Infection Control Measures

Please visit this page regularly for latest updates.

(Last updated 27th March 2020)

Covid19 is a strain of Coronavirus which is spreading rapidly in the United Kingdom. The government has taken unprecedented measures in controlling the transmission of the virus and shoring up the economy.   Currently there is a lock down and only certain services are deemed to be essential.  You should take advice from your hospital about your antenatal care.  There is an incubation period of approx 1 week.  This is the period when a person has the virus but is not displaying symptoms.

Initially elderly patients and those with comorbidities were deemed to be at high risk.  However recently the government have included pregnant ladies in this category.

If you develop a cough, fever or breathlessness please phone 111 for advice.

Baby scanning is a doctor led service and our GP is currently helping with the Covid19 triage and assessment. We are on the frontline and are witnessing what is happening in our community first hand.  Some patients are presenting with mild symptoms such as cough and fever. Others are experiencing severe breathlessness and are developing Acute respiratory distress Syndrome which is potentially fatal.

This virus does not discriminate.  If you are in close proximity or contact with someone who has the virus you will contract it. So you must self isolate.  We will update this page with any developments as they emerge.

If you do not follow government advice your are not only putting yourself at risk but your family, friends and the community at large at risk.

Your are also putting healthcare workers who are helping contain the disease at risk.

The main symptoms are a cough, fever, and breathlessness.  Many patients will display mild self limiting symptoms however others develop Acute distress respiratory distress symptoms which is potential fatal.
